Requires the Director of the Fraud Investigation Unit of the Department of Human Services and each investigator to be a law enforcement officer, part-time law enforcement officer, or law enforcement trainee as defined in Section 45-6-3.

Expands the Fraud Investigation Unit's duties to include prevention of fraud or abuse of any program administered by the department, in addition to detection and verification activities.

Extends the Unit's investigative authority to include nonfederal entities with which the department has entered into agreements, in addition to clients, service vendors, and department employees.

Changes references from "State Tax Commission" to "Department of Revenue" as a source for investigative assistance.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
