MS HB27

Amends Mississippi Code sections 37-13-91 and 37-151-5 to increase the minimum percentage of the instructional day a student must be present to be counted in average daily attendance from 37% to 50%.

Changes the threshold for reporting a student as absent for an entire school day from more than 37% absence to more than 50% absence of the instructional day.

Modifies the definition of "minimum school term" to require students be present for at least 50% (rather than 63%) of the instructional day for funding calculation purposes under the Adequate Education Program.

Affects school district funding levels under the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP), as average daily attendance is used to determine district funding allocations.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
