House Bill 410 Summary

• Authorizes the Mississippi Department of Transportation Office of Law Enforcement to use radar speed detection equipment when enforcing speed limits on commercial motor vehicles they are authorized to inspect.

• Amends Section 77-7-16 to grant the Mississippi Transportation Commission and Motor Carrier Division authority to enforce speed limit laws on commercial vehicles in addition to their existing inspection duties.

• Empowers Mississippi Department of Transportation law enforcement officers to enforce speed limit laws on vehicles they are authorized to inspect under Section 77-7-16(2).

• Requires Mississippi Department of Transportation law enforcement officers to comply with the Uniform Traffic Ticket Law when issuing speeding citations to commercial vehicle operators.

• Effective date: July 1, 2020.
