The office of chancery clerk becomes a nonpartisan office, prohibiting candidates from campaigning or qualifying based on party affiliation.

Political parties and affiliated committees are prohibited from fundraising for chancery clerk candidates, making contributions to them, or publicly endorsing them; candidates cannot accept such contributions.

Chancery clerk candidates must be listed separately on ballots in alphabetical order with clear nonpartisan designation and no reference to party affiliation.

Amends sections 23-15-299, 23-15-359, 23-15-367, 23-15-511, and 23-15-531.3 of Mississippi Code to implement nonpartisan ballot procedures for chancery clerk races.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
