Amends Mississippi Code Section 37-23-179 to require all local school districts to offer gifted education programs for intellectually gifted students in grades 2 through 8, effective with the 2020-2021 school year.

Previously required gifted education programs only through grade 6; this bill extends the mandate to include grades 7 and 8.

Programs must be approved by the State Board of Education and funded as part of exceptional child programs under Section 37-19-5(3).

Each local school district must include descriptions of proposed gifted education programs in their five-year plans.

Effective date: July 1, 2020.
