Commissioner of Public Safety must develop and implement electronic driver's licenses and driving permits as an optional format by July 1, 2021.

Electronic formats for licenses and permits may be displayed on cellular phones or any other electronic device.

Commissioner of Public Safety must also develop and implement electronic identification cards as an optional format by July 1, 2021 under the same electronic format requirements.

Existing provisions regarding driver's license features (photographs, security measures, sex offender designations, veteran designations) remain unchanged.

Act takes effect July 1, 2020.
