Requires all new passenger motor vehicles sold in Mississippi on or after January 1, 2022, weighing less than 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight to be equipped with a rear seat occupant alert system.

Alert system must include a distinct auditory and visual alert (which may be combined with a haptic alert) that activates when the vehicle engine or motor is deactivated by the operator.

Alert is designed to remind operators to check rear designated seating positions after turning off the vehicle engine or motor.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
