MS HB825

Requires all individual and group health insurance policies, HMOs, self-insured plans, and managed care entities delivering coverage to Mississippi residents for radiation oncology to include coverage for physician-prescribed proton beam therapy for cancer treatment as recommended by the American Society for Radiation Oncology, effective July 1, 2020.

Applies the proton beam therapy coverage requirement to the State and School Employees Health Insurance Plan.

Amends Section 25-15-9 of Mississippi Code to explicitly require the State and School Employees Health Insurance Plan to provide coverage for proton therapy for cancer treatment and certain noncancerous tumors.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
