Allows vehicle owners who trade in a vehicle to a dealer to retain and reuse the license plate from the traded vehicle on the newly purchased vehicle if the plate is the same series, authorized for that vehicle type, and issued in the same county.

Permits persons selling or transferring a vehicle to retain and reuse the license plate on another vehicle being registered for the first time, under the same conditions regarding plate series, vehicle type authorization, and county issuance.

Requires that reused license plates must meet three conditions: (1) be of the same series as a new plate would be, (2) be authorized for use on the type of vehicle being registered, and (3) have been issued in the same county as the vehicle's registration.

Effective July 1, 2021.
