Request the Joint Committee on the Library of Congress to approve replacing Mississippi's statue of James Zachariah George in Statuary Hall with a statue of civil rights icon Fannie Lou Hamer.

Authorize under 2 USC Section 2132, which allows states to request removal and replacement of statues with socially inclusive displays representing the state's diverse citizenry.

Mississippi shall pay all costs associated with the replacement, including design, construction, transportation, placement of the new statue, and removal of the old one.

Request the Governor to affirm the Legislature's efforts and create a commission of Mississippi artisans and artists to solicit private contributions for the Fannie Lou Hamer statue.

Provide copies of the resolution to the Joint Committee on the Library of Congress, Mississippi's Congressional delegation, and the Capitol Press Corps.
