Recognizes and commends Mr. Henry Dorsey for 44+ years of service as an educator in Mississippi, including roles as teacher, coach, principal, athletic director, superintendent, and conservator.

Dorsey served 36 years in the Hazlehurst City School District, compiling a record as boys basketball coach of 279 wins and 160 losses with 2 South State Championships and 4 District Championships.

Named High School State Principal of the Year in 2003 and candidate for National Principal of the Year; as principal, he improved academic performance and student behavior, achieving two years without a student fight.

As superintendent beginning in 2005, Dorsey corrected 170+ facility and safety deficiencies within nine months to restore district accreditation and balanced the budget by over $500,000.

As conservator after state takeover, Dorsey secured a free lunch grant for all children for four years, achieved over $2 million in district surplus, and successfully transitioned the district back to local control.
