Senate Bill 2024 Summary

• Increases the starting base teacher salary to $40,000.00 by the 2023-2024 school year through a four-year phase-in starting in 2020-2021.

• Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, all teacher salaries must equal at minimum the southeastern regional average salary for certified teachers and administrators.

• Provides specific salary schedules for school years 2020-2021 through 2023-2024 based on teacher license type (AAAA, AAA, AA, A) and years of experience.

• Maintains existing salary supplements for National Board Certified teachers ($6,000 annually), school nurses, counselors, and speech-language pathologists ($6,000 annually), with additional $4,000 supplement for certified teachers in specified counties.

• Effective July 1, 2020.
