All residential roofing contractors operating in Mississippi must obtain a license from a municipality, county, or the State Board of Contractors.

License applications must include the contractor's Mississippi state sales tax number or, for individuals, their social security number.

Defines a residential roofing contractor as any person or entity contracting to repair or replace roof systems on residential real estate, regardless of project cost or whether insurance will cover expenses.

Effective July 1, 2020, and codified in Title 73, Chapter 59 of the Mississippi Code.
