Requires local school boards that practice corporal punishment to adopt a policy allowing parents or guardians to choose annually whether their student participates in the school district's corporal punishment program.

School districts must provide written notice to parents or guardians each school year explaining the corporal punishment policy and their right to request inclusion of their student in the program.

Requests for inclusion in corporal punishment must be submitted in writing, are effective for the remainder of the school year, and may be withdrawn at any time.

Prohibits school personnel from administering corporal punishment to students whose parents or guardians have not included them in the program and removes liability immunity for violations of this requirement.

Effective date: July 1, 2020.
