Operating permits required annually: Amusement rides must obtain an operating permit decal from the Mississippi Department of Revenue valid for one year, with application submitted at least 15 business days before operation.

Application requirements: Operators must provide proof of $1,000,000 minimum liability insurance, pay a fee not exceeding $100, and submit proof of inspection by a qualified inspector conducted no earlier than 15 days prior to application.

Inspector qualifications: Inspectors must be certified by the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (Level I minimum) or equivalent certification, have 24 months amusement ride inspection experience, and cannot be the owner/operator or their employee.

Incident reporting: Owners/operators must report serious injuries within 72 hours and deaths within 2 hours to the department, maintain incident logs for 3 years, and immediately cease ride operation pending investigation.

Ride operator requirements: Operators must be at least 16 years old, operate only one ride at a time, remain in attendance during operation, and follow manufacturer specifications; exemption provided for nonprofit operators of 10 or fewer rides.
