Amends Mississippi Code sections 99-19-81 and 99-19-83 to add a ten-year lookback period for prior felony convictions when determining habitual offender status.

Prior convictions shall not be counted as previous convictions if more than ten (10) years have elapsed between the current offense and the expiration of correctional supervision or imprisonment term.

Applies to both standard habitual offender sentencing (maximum term of imprisonment) and habitual offender with crime of violence (life imprisonment without parole eligibility).

Effective July 1, 2020.
