MS SB2551

Amends Section 93-1-17 of the Mississippi Code to authorize judges of the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi to solemnize marriages anywhere in the state.

Expands the list of federal judicial officers authorized to perform marriages to include United States Circuit Court judges, United States magistrate judges, and United States Bankruptcy Court judges.

Requires that federal judges authorized to perform marriages must have a duty station located in Mississippi.

Maintains existing authorization for state judges, religious officials, justice court judges, and county supervisors to solemnize marriages.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
