MS SB2643

Authorizes sheriffs and deputy sheriffs in counties with a population of 100,000 or more (based on 2010 census) to use radar speed detection equipment on public roads, streets, and highways outside incorporated municipalities and excluding interstate highways.

Prohibits the levying of any fine in association with citations issued for speeding violations detected by radar equipment used by sheriffs or deputy sheriffs under this authorization.

Amends Section 63-3-519 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to add this new exception to the existing prohibition on radar speed detection equipment use by law enforcement agencies other than the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.

Takes effect upon passage.
