Amends Section 47-7-40 of Mississippi Code to authorize the Department of Corrections to contract with Multi-County Community Service Agency, Inc. (MCCSA) to provide workforce training services to formerly incarcerated individuals age 16 and over.

MCCSA will serve a nine-county geographic area in East Central Mississippi and help participants obtain General Education Diplomas, certifications, and community college degrees to increase employability.

MCCSA will serve as the fiscal agency and must employ a qualified program coordinator and sufficient case managers to manage the program.

New participants will be referred to partner agencies for enrollment and must register with the Mississippi Department of Employment Security work system where necessary.

The act takes effect July 1, 2020.
