Mississippi Legislature preempts all local firearm regulations, making any existing or future county, city, or municipal ordinances regarding firearms, ammunition, and components null and void.

Political subdivisions are prohibited from adopting ordinances on firearm sales, transfers, ownership, possession, licensing, permits, registration, or taxation (except sales and use taxes).

Limited exceptions allow local regulation of firearm discharge, open carrying, explosives storage, firearms at public parks/meetings/athletic events, and pawnshop firearm receipt.

Prohibits counties, cities, and the state from suing firearm or ammunition manufacturers for damages related to lawful design, manufacture, marketing, distribution, or sale of firearms.

Citizens adversely affected by local firearm ordinances may file suit for declaratory and injunctive relief; officials found in violation face civil liability up to $1,000 plus attorney's fees, with public funds prohibited from defending violating officials.
