• Authorizes sheriffs and their deputies to use radar speed detection equipment on county public roads, streets, and highways located outside municipal limits.

• Equipment may only be used on roads under county board of supervisors jurisdiction for maintenance and construction.

• Amends Section 63-3-519 of Mississippi Code to add this exception to the existing prohibition on radar use by non-Highway Patrol entities.

• Maintains existing permissions for radar use by municipal law enforcement (in municipalities with 2,000+ population) and university campus police.

• Effective date: July 1, 2020.
