Amends Mississippi Code Section 41-10-1 to require health care providers and their agents to provide medical and billing records within 30 days of receiving a valid patient request.

Maintains existing prohibitions against intentionally placing misleading or inaccurate information in patient medical records, punishable by up to one year imprisonment or a $1,000 fine.

Maintains existing prohibitions against intentionally altering or destroying patient medical records to conceal responsibility for patient injury, sickness, or death, punishable by up to one year imprisonment or a $1,000 fine.

Permits destruction of original medical records if all information is retained through mechanical, electronic, or chemical reproduction methods, and allows corrections or supplementations that clearly disclose the changes without concealing prior entries.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
