Requires nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) drivers transporting passengers to/from medical appointments in Mississippi to either be credentialed by the Division of Medicaid's contracted broker or meet specified criteria.

NEMT drivers must possess a valid Mississippi driver's license and carry automobile and general liability insurance with minimum limits of $500,000 per incident and $1,000,000 cumulative.

Drivers must file with the Department of Health a fingerprint background check, annual national criminal background check (no felonies in past 5 years, no drug/violence/abuse convictions), annual sex offender registry check, and annual motor vehicle report (not more than 2 moving/at-fault accidents, no DUI tickets in past 5 years, no license suspensions in past 5 years).

NEMT drivers must maintain current certifications in defensive driving, CPR and first-aid training, assisting passengers with disabilities, and wheelchair transportation training if performing wheelchair medical transportation.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
