Authorizes nurse practitioners to dispense legend drugs (non-controlled prescription medications) for which they possess prescriptive authority directly to their patients.

Maintains the prohibition on nurse practitioners prescribing, dispensing, or ordering controlled substances except as provided in existing law.

Requires nurse practitioners to continue practicing under a collaborative/consultative relationship with a licensed physician and within board-approved protocols or practice guidelines.

Effective date is July 1, 2020.
