MS SB2826

Removes the authority of transferring school boards to reject student transfer applications; transfers must be approved at the next regular board meeting.

Requires the receiving school district (transferee board) to make a final decision on transfer requests no later than the next regular meeting, with failure to act constituting a rejection.

Prohibits transferring school districts from charging any fees to students who have been accepted by another school district.

Effective date: July 1, 2020.
