SB 2940 Summary

• Appropriates $5,461,311.00 from the State General Fund and $40,797,015.00 from special funds to the Veterans Affairs Board for fiscal year 2021 (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021).

• Authorizes 76 permanent full-time positions, 540 time-limited full-time positions, and 76 part-time positions for the Veterans Affairs Board.

• Allocates $250,000.00 to provide care for indigent/low-income Mississippi veterans and qualifying nonveteran surviving spouses in state veterans homes under the "Hilton R. 'Jack' Vance Act of 1997."

• Grants the Veterans Affairs Board continued authority for planning, development, construction, and outfitting of the North Mississippi Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.

• Authorizes the board to escalate and expend increased federal funds obtained under Public Law 109-461 and to escalate funds from fund number 3373200000 up to $5,000,000.00 for operating state veterans homes.
