Stone County High School "Tomcats" tennis team won the 2019 MHSAA Class 5A State Championship on May 31, 2019, defeating Lafayette High School 6-1 in the title match.

The team finished the season with a 20-2 overall record and won 25 singles or doubles matches while losing only 3 during playoffs.

The championship victory ended an eight-year drought, as the team had previously won eight South State Championships but never reached the state title until 2019.

Coach Freddie Wegner led the team with assistance from coaches Kirk Ladner, Wynn Alexander, and Eddie Brantley.

The resolution commends the 19-member roster, coaching staff, parents, and sponsors for bringing honor to Stone County High School and the State of Mississippi.
