Honors Honorable Cono Anthony Caranna II of Biloxi, Mississippi, who passed away on January 9, 2020, and expresses legislative sympathy to his surviving family.

Recognizes his military service as a Rifle Company Commander in Vietnam, where he received a Bronze Star with "V" device, two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal, and a Purple Heart.

Acknowledges his career as the longest-serving full-time District Attorney in South Mississippi history, beginning with his 1973 appointment as Biloxi City Attorney and establishing multiple prosecutorial innovations including the first victim witness coordinator program and first drug court in the Second Circuit.

Highlights his legislative achievements including advocating for life without parole as a sentencing option in capital murder trials (passed in 1994) and supporting the creation of a bad check collection unit (enacted in 1988).

Directs that this resolution be presented to his surviving family and forwarded to The Mississippi Bar and Mississippi Prosecutors Association.
