Five Mississippi students participated in the "Jobs for America's Graduates" 2019 National Student Leadership Academy Competition in Washington, D.C., in December 2019, competing in public speaking, employability skills, math skills, and project-based learning.

A'Myah Robinson and Sylvester Washington, Jr. (Gentry High School juniors) each won First Place for Project-Based Learning; T'Rossi Pernell (Gentry High School) won Second Place for Public Speaking; and Zacchaeus Wallace (Jackson School District APAC Program senior) won Second Place for Math.

Mississippi students scored highest among 32 states represented at the competition, earning four student title place finishes—more than any other state.

The resolution commends the five students and Dr. Adrian Brown (Gentry High School Job Specialist) for their academic achievements and recognizes their participation in leadership training sessions and cultural tours in Washington, D.C.

Copies of the resolution will be presented to the students, the Executive Director of Jobs for Mississippi Graduates, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
