Mourns the death of Reverend Dr. Charles E. Polk, Sr., who passed away on May 24, 2020, and served as pastor of St. Luther Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson for 41 years.

Recognizes Polk's extensive community and civic involvement including membership in the SCLC, NAACP, Ministers Union, Mississippi Baptist Convention, National Baptist Convention USA, and positions on boards for Central Mississippi Health Services and the Mississippi Mass Choir.

Honors Polk's outreach ministries including prison ministry, community ministry, children's ministry, clothing ministry, and senior citizens ministry that grew the church significantly during his tenure.

Acknowledges Polk's advocacy for vulnerable populations, voluntary service to senior citizens' food giveaways, and his nickname "The Son of Thunder" for his powerful preaching style.

Directs that the resolution be presented to Polk's surviving family, forwarded to St. Luther Missionary Baptist Church, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
