Creates a board of directors for the Mississippi Department of Human Services effective July 1, 2021, consisting of four members appointed by the Governor and three members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, with Senate confirmation.

Board members must be qualified electors of Mississippi and shall assist the Executive Director in governing the department; initial appointments made August 1, 2021 with staggered two-to-four-year terms, followed by four-year terms thereafter.

Board members shall annually select a chair and vice chair from their membership and receive per diem compensation as provided in Section 25-3-69, plus travel and reasonable expenses.

The entire Section 4 of the amended statute (creating the board of directors) is set to sunset and shall stand repealed on July 1, 2023.

Effective date is July 1, 2021.
