HB 1126: Keep Our Kids on Track Act of 2021

• Establishes an educational services grant program for parents of K-12 students in Mississippi public schools, with grant amounts based on household income up to $1,500 per student for families at or below 250% of federal poverty guidelines, $1,000 for families at or below 350%, and $500 for all other families.

• Sets a maximum household limit of $4,500 per year and income caps of $75,000 AGI for individual filers and $150,000 for joint filers; services must be provided between August 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022.

• Permits grant funds to cover tutoring, curriculum, standardized tests, Advanced Placement exams, educational therapies, dual enrollment costs, school supplies (up to $50), and approved educational software.

• Requires the State Department of Education to administer the program, approve applications within 21 business days, verify income eligibility, establish audit procedures, and implement fraud detection and reporting mechanisms.

• Authorizes the Department to deduct up to 5% from appropriations for administrative costs and establishes payment systems allowing providers to invoice directly or parents to seek reimbursement.
