MS HB1186

Designates a segment of U.S. Highway 49 from its intersection with Interstate 220 and Medgar Evers Boulevard in Hinds County to its intersection with U.S. Highway 61 in Coahoma County as an historic highway.

Requires the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to maintain the designated highway segment to the degree appropriate for an historic highway.

Authorizes MDOT to enter into an interlocal agreement with the City of Jackson for upkeep and maintenance of the portion of the historic highway within Jackson's corporate limits.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
