MS HB1256

Increases the hourly rate charged by the State Auditor for performing audits and other services from $35.00 per man-hour to $50.00 per man-hour.

Applies the increased rate to audits and services for local government entities, school districts, junior college districts, and other entities that receive state tax revenues or grants, except municipalities.

Allows the State Auditor to determine how costs for independent specialist firms contracted to assist in audits are paid by the audited entity.

Changes references in statute from "Department" to "Division" of Investigation within the State Department of Audit.

Takes effect July 1, 2021.
