Allows courts to void actions taken by public bodies in violation of the open meetings law if the court determines that the public interest in voiding the action outweighs the public interest in sustaining it, based on a preponderance of evidence standard.

Establishes a six-month statute of limitations for parties aggrieved by violations to bring enforcement suits, with an absolute deadline of two years after the violation date.

Exempts actions involving bond issuance or other evidence of indebtedness from the voiding provisions if a public hearing, election, or public sale was held regarding the bonds or debt.

Maintains existing Mississippi Ethics Commission enforcement authority, including the ability to order compliance measures and impose civil penalties up to $500 for first offenses and $1,000 for subsequent violations.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
