Strategic business decisions eligible for closed sessions include opening new service lines, implementing capital improvements, and filing certificate of need applications with the State Department of Health

Maintains existing executive session provisions for public hospital boards covering personnel matters, employee credentialing, medical staff privileges, salaries, and disciplinary actions

Allows closed sessions for hospital board discussions involving identifiable patient information, including patient complaints, accounts, charity care recipients, and treatment details

Requires a three-fifths vote of members present to declare any executive session, with the reason stated and recorded in public meeting minutes

Effective date: July 1, 2021
