Reduces vesting requirement for public safety employees (law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency management personnel) to four (4) years of service, regardless of when they became system members.

Entitles public safety employees to receive retirement allowance after twenty-five (25) years of creditable service, regardless of age or membership date.

Defines "public safety employee" to include municipal police, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, conservation officers, state correctional facility guards, firefighters, and emergency management agency personnel meeting specified training and certification standards.

Applies the four-year vesting requirement and twenty-five-year service allowance eligibility to public safety employees uniformly, overriding the different service credit thresholds that apply to other Public Employees' Retirement System members based on their membership date.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
