HB 272 Summary

• Amends the Mississippi Accountability and Transparency Act of 2008 to expand the definition of "agency" to include counties and municipalities.

• Requires each county with a population of 80,000 or more and each municipality with a population of 10,000 or more to create accountability and transparency websites by July 1, 2022, either as standalone sites or sections of existing websites.

• County and municipal websites must provide public access to financial reports, audits, budgets, and other financial documents used to allocate and account for public funds.

• Removes language from Section 27-104-163 that previously excluded counties and municipalities from state agency meeting notice requirements on the Department of Finance and Administration's website.
