Requires the Mississippi Department of Corrections to allocate no less than $2,500,000 of unexpended Inmate Welfare Fund amounts at the end of each fiscal year for transitional housing centers and other reentry purposes

Reentry funding must support purposes identified in pre-release assessments and written discharge plans of offenders under Section 47-7-33.1

The $2,500,000 reentry funding requirement contains a sunset provision and will be repealed after July 1, 2023

The Inmate Welfare Fund receives revenue from inmate canteen profits, telephone call commissions (40%), interest earnings, and other sources designated by the commissioner

Effective date is July 1, 2021
