Reverse auctions for public school and district purchases will only be required when purchasing products sold through resellers

When a public school or district purchases products not sold through resellers and determines a reverse auction is not in the state's best interest, they must submit a detailed explanation to the local school board for approval

If the local school board approves an alternative to reverse auction, the school or district may use other bidding methods including requests for proposals or any method that promotes open competition

This change removes the requirement for public schools and districts to seek approval from the Public Procurement Review Board for non-reseller product purchases

Effective date: July 1, 2021
