Extends the repeal date of Mississippi's Comprehensive Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2024

The program, housed within the Department of Insurance, develops hurricane damage mitigation strategies including cost-benefit studies on wind hazard construction measures, wind certification inspections, and financial grants for property retrofitting

Wind certification inspectors must be licensed building code officials, contractors, or civil engineers who complete state-certified training and pass background checks

An advisory council oversees the program, consisting of representatives from insurance agents, property insurers, homebuilders, legislative insurance committees, the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association, and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency

Effective date is July 1, 2021
