Commends and congratulates Alcorn State University's faculty, staff, and students on the institution's 150th year anniversary.

Recognizes Alcorn as the oldest public historically black land grant institution in the United States, founded in 1871 and named after Governor James L. Alcorn.

Notes the university's growth from 8 faculty members and 179 students in 1871 to over 800 faculty and staff and 3,500 students representing 76 counties, 38 states, and 18 foreign countries.

Acknowledges the university's expansion from 225 acres and 3 buildings to over 1,700 acres with more than 80 structures, and its evolution to offer degree programs in over 50 areas including bachelor's, master's, and educational specialist degrees.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to the President of Alcorn State University and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
