Recognizes and commends Mrs. Ida Pearl Peavie Minor for her career as an educator in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, and her work with the Mississippi Department of Education

Taught for 38 years in the Hazlehurst City School District, covering biology, chemistry, mathematics, general science, earth and space science, and anatomy and physiology

Served as Science Department Chairperson, Science Club Sponsor, and Science Fair Coordinator during her teaching career

After retirement, worked as a contract worker with the Mississippi Department of Education as a school evaluator and member of the School Improvement/School Support Team

Community involvement includes serving over 25 years as Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Hazlehurst Housing Authority, and received awards including Mississippi's Commissioner of the Year from HUD and two-time Star Teacher and Teacher of the Year
