Tardive Dyskinesia is a movement disorder causing random, involuntary movements of the face, trunk, and extremities, affecting an estimated 500,000 Americans

TD can develop from treatment with dopamine receptor blocking agents (DRBAs), including antipsychotics used for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression, and gastrointestinal disorders

One in four patients receiving long-term antipsychotic treatment will experience TD, which is often permanent and frequently misdiagnosed

Encourages Mississippi citizens to become informed about TD and directs copies of the resolution to the State Board of Health and Capitol Press Corps
