Senate Bill 2003 Summary

• Authorizes Medicaid reimbursement for therapeutic and case management mental health services provided by community service providers accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), or Council on Accreditation (COA).

• Extends reimbursement authorization to both fee-for-service and managed care contract providers for eligible mental health services.

• Requires managed care organizations (MCOs) to reimburse mental health providers for approved therapeutic and case management services from accredited community mental health service providers effective July 1, 2021.

• Removes the requirement that mental health providers be "meeting requirements of the Department of Mental Health to be an approved mental health/intellectual disability center if determined necessary by the Department of Mental Health" in favor of accreditation standards.

• Extends the sunset date of Mississippi Code Section 43-13-117 from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2025.
