Authorizes nurse practitioners to dispense legend drugs and medications (other than controlled substances) to their patients, provided the nurse practitioner possesses prescriptive authority for those drugs.

Maintains existing prohibition on nurse practitioners prescribing, dispensing, or ordering controlled substances except as specifically authorized in statute.

Requires nurse practitioners to continue practicing within a collaborative/consultative relationship with a licensed physician or dentist and under board-approved protocols or practice guidelines.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
