MS SB2091

Adds "companion animal" to the Protection from Domestic Abuse Act, defined as any animal kept inside a residential dwelling and any dog or cat regardless of location, excluding livestock and wild animals.

Authorizes courts to include provisions protecting companion animals in final domestic abuse protection orders issued by chancery or county courts.

Adds "harming" to the list of prohibited actions regarding property in temporary protection orders issued by municipal and justice courts.

Allows courts to grant possession of personal property to petitioners in final domestic abuse protection orders, in addition to residence or household.

Takes effect July 1, 2021.
