MS SB2226

Requires the State Board of Education to replace Mississippi College and Career-Ready Standards (formerly Common Core) with pre-2010 ELA standards from California, Indiana, Massachusetts, or Texas, and mathematics standards from California, Florida, Indiana, or Massachusetts, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year

Prohibits adoption of curriculum standards developed outside Mississippi (including Next Generation Science Standards, National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, National Health Education Standards, and National Sexuality Education Standards) without public hearings in each congressional district and legislative approval

Bars the State Board of Education and state officials from joining any consortium or organization that would cede control over Mississippi public education to outside entities

Prohibits entering agreements, MOUs, or contracts with federal agencies or private entities that limit state control over curriculum standards and student assessments, including agreements tied to school funding

Effective date of July 1, 2021
