Excludes burglary of a dwelling from the definition of "crime of violence" for purposes of intervention court eligibility under Mississippi Code Sections 9-23-5 and 9-23-15.

Allows individuals with a conviction for burglary of a dwelling to be eligible for alternative sentencing through local intervention court programs (drug court, mental health court, veterans court, or problem-solving court).

Maintains existing eligibility restrictions including prohibitions on participants with prior felony convictions for crimes of violence within the previous ten years or trafficking in controlled substances.

Requires that participants be screened for admission to intervention court upon request if they meet all eligibility criteria established in the statute.

Effective date: July 1, 2021.
