Requires courts to order reimbursement of attorney's fees and costs to third parties when a person or entity makes duplicative public records requests for documents already subject to an existing protective order

Applies to records containing trade secrets or confidential commercial/financial information that third parties have previously sought protective orders to shield from disclosure

Third parties who furnish confidential business information to public bodies can seek protective orders in chancery court within 21 days of receiving notice of a records request

Maintains existing exemptions for trade secrets, confidential financial information, waste minimization plans, and sensitive data processing software from public disclosure requirements

Effective date: July 1, 2021
